Date responded: 8 October 2018

Information requested

4th June 2018

18th September 2018

1) all of the jobs advertised for the new Scottish Social Security Agency and the quantity of each job if multiple,

2) The civil service grade of each of those jobs (please be as specific as possible e.g. B1 as opposed to B),

3) The location of each of those jobs (e.g. at HQ in Dundee),

4) Whether each of these jobs was advertised internally or externally, or both.

5) The date (month and year would suffice, for example) on which each job was advertised.

You also indicated in your email response to me on Thursday 20th September 2018 that since both requests asked for the same information, apart from an additional request in the second, you were content to receive the information for both requests in a single response.

Response

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested in the single table you asked for, in PDF format.

The following notes may help in interpreting the information:

1. The data relates to Social Security Agency Implementation which was the body which became Social Security Scotland on 1st September 2018. Technically no recruitment was undertaken by the Social Security Agency before 1st September 2018.

2. The majority of posts recruited before 1st January 2018 are for Glasgow reflecting the opening of the first office. The agency’s headquarters opened in Dundee in June 2018.

3. Only information for recruitment campaigns for permanent jobs is provided.

4. Some jobs may appear more than once in the table. This reflects that an earlier recruitment campaign may not have resulted in filling all the available posts. In most cases, jobs will be advertised through internal civil service routes first and only then advertised externally if the first campaign was unsuccessful. The total number of posts advertised is therefore not an indicator of agency headcount.
