FOI reference: FOI/18/02267
Date received: 24 August 2018
Date responded: 20 September 2018

Information requested

The total amount of Scottish Government funding (including grants, investments and loans) provided to Ferguson Shipyard and its subsidiaries in the last three years.

Response

The Scottish Government does not hold detailed information on all public funding provided to private companies in Scotland. The Scottish Government and all public bodies report their expenditure, including commercial transactions, in their published annual accounts.

In September 2017 the Scottish Government agreed to provide a commercial loan facility of up to £15 million to Ferguson Marine Engineering Limited (FMEL). This facility was fully drawn in the financial year 2017-18 and the expenditure will be recorded in the Scottish Government’s Consolidated Accounts for 2017-18 when they are published in September 2018.
In June 2018 the Scottish Government agreed a further commercial loan facility for FMEL of up £30 million. Actual expenditure under this facility will be recorded in the Scottish Government’s Consolidated Accounts for 2018-19.

The Consolidated Accounts of the Scottish Government for the years before 2017-18 are available from the Scottish Government’s website www.gov.scot
