Information on the Discretionary Fund provided by the Scottish Government to UK Students for the past three years.
1. The number of students in total that applied for the fund.
2. The number of applications to the fund that were successful.
3. The total amount of money that was paid to successful applicants.
If possible broken down by institution.
I enclose a copy of all of the information you have requested.
Please note, each year, SAAS pays discretionary funds to colleges and universities, on behalf of the Scottish Government, to distribute to higher education students in financial need. At the end of the academic year, the institutions are required to complete returns detailing how much money was distributed and how many students applied for and benefited from the funds. The returns are then submitted to SAAS and have been used to provide you with the information requested for academic sessions 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
The Scottish Government is committed to publishing all information released in response to Freedom of Information requests. View all FOI responses at http://www.gov.scot/foi-responses
