Violence Prevention Framework for Scotland: Fairer Scotland Duty summary
This assessment evaluates the equality and socio-economic impacts of the Violence Prevention Framework for Scotland.
Summary of assessment findings
Additional funding to support the expansion and co-ordination of programmes offering services in early intervention and prevention could strengthen the impact of the framework on inequalities of outcome. Effective collaboration can help to improve outcomes, and target those in the most deprived areas who are more likely to be in contact with the justice system. However, we recognise the challenging financial situation and the impact of the Resource Spending Review.
There are already a number of violence prevention programmes taking place in a small number of locations across the country, such as the Hospital Navigator programme. Through the Framework, we will look to scale up that work to other locations, to extend the opportunity and outcome to more people and communities and ensure that more collaborative work is taken up between our various stakeholders so duplication is minimised and effectiveness is maximised.
We have considered the available evidence and stakeholders views in the development of the Framework, to ensure that action and focus is targeted towards those most at risk of violence. As a result of this consideration we have determined that no changes will be needed for this proposal as the Framework aims to directly contributing to improving outcomes for disadvantaged people and communities across Scotland.
