EQIA for Improving Wellbeing and Working Cultures (IWWC)

This EQIA supports the Improving Wellbeing and Working Culture (IWWC) publication (2024). IWWC sets out the ambition to enhance working cultures across our social care, social work and health workforce.

Key Findings

As a retrospective EQIA, no new data collection was undertaken. Therefore, no significant changes to IWWC are required at this time. However, this position may be subject to change based on the findings of future EQIAs undertaken as new, individual interventions are developed.

Although no formal consultation was undertaken during the development of the IWWC, extensive engagement took place with key stakeholder groups to gather feedback—including on equalities considerations—and to ensure the document was fit for purpose and reflective of the needs of staff across health and social care. Stakeholder groups included: NHS Educations Scotland, Wellbeing Champions, British Medical Association (BMA), Social Work Advisory Group (SWAG), Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland. No equalities risks were flagged during this process.

This retrospective EQIA considered the existing feedback to assess any potential equality risks associated to IWWC, demonstrating compliance with PSED. No equalities risks were identified.

However, the process has highlighted the requirement for further EQIA to be undertaken in respect of individual interventions/ policies which support the wider aims of IWWC.

Officials will continue to monitor emerging equalities risks and evidence requirements as part of the ongoing review of the IWWC Action Plan, including through routine screening of new interventions, analysis of workforce insights, and feedback from stakeholder groups.
