EQIA for Improving Wellbeing and Working Cultures (IWWC)

This EQIA supports the Improving Wellbeing and Working Culture (IWWC) publication (2024). IWWC sets out the ambition to enhance working cultures across our social care, social work and health workforce.

Background

Improving Wellbeing and Working Cultures (IWWC) sets out the Scottish Government’s ambition to enhance working cultures across our social care, social work and health workforce, through programmes of work at a national level that focus on the pillars of: wellbeing, leadership and equality

Our vision is that people delivering and enabling health and care services in Scotland are supported by compassionate organisations, leaders and teams with a focus on wellbeing, diversity and inclusion. If staff feel valued by their colleagues, teams and employers, then they will ultimately be able to offer a better level of care to those who need and access our services.

The delivery of national interventions under the pillars of IWWC will also support the delivery of wider ambitions within health and social care, including staff retention, improving wellbeing, longer-term recovery and service reform. This also includes creating psychological safety in the workplace – where everyone feels heard, respected and valued – and where there is invitation to provide ongoing challenge to improve the status quo.

IWWC is aimed at everyone working in teams - managers and leaders, across the three sectors of health, social care and social work.

The positive impact of creating conditions in which staff feel heard and valued, can help to improve staff wellbeing, enhance team dynamics and contribute to the delivery of high-quality person-centred care and services for the people of Scotland.
