Overview of key facts and trends relating to energy in Scotland for Q2 2025
Renewable Electricity Pipeline
As of the end of June 2025, there were 1,114 renewable energy projects with an estimated capacity of 76.5 GW in the planning pipeline in Scotland. Of these there were:
- 373 electricity storage projects with an estimated capacity of 35.3 GW;
- 683 renewable electricity generation projects with an estimated capacity of 37.7 GW; and
- 58 other renewable energy technologies projects with an estimated capacity of 3.5 GW.
The technology with the most estimated capacity in the pipeline is battery storage (26.3 GW), followed by offshore wind generation (17.8 GW) and onshore wind generation (17.0 GW; Figure 4).
