Scottish Framework Adult Social Care Support and Community Health: Easy Read

1. Introduction

The Scottish Government, COSLA, and SOLACE have made a draft framework to help make social care support and community health services better. A draft means it is a first version.

A framework is a plan. This plan is about trying to make adult social care and community health services better for adults who use services, unpaid carers and staff.

The framework has been put together using people’s views about using social care, social work and community health services.

Staff were also asked for their thoughts on the framework.

2. Draft Framework

This Framework has the things that will help make social care, social work and community health services better

These are:

  • Making sure care is led by the person who is being supported.
  • Supporting staff
  • Supporting unpaid carers
  • Making social care and community health services work better together to protect human rights
  • Better planning of social care support and community health services

People have told us what matters to them and how to make social care support and community health services better.

The framework will measure whether services are better by the things that people told us matter most to them.

3. Who is the framework for?

The framework will be used by staff who work in in social care, social work and community health services.

The framework will help us to know if social care support and community services are working well or not. This will help us learn and make things better.

4. What are we doing now?

We are working to make sure the framework can be used by local services to measure the difference they are making to people.

We will keep listening to people with lived experience to make sure the framework works properly.
