4. Co‑production Approach
The Cabinet Forum was designed and delivered through co‑production, with disabled people and DPO leaders embedded at every stage of planning, decision‑making, and facilitation. Building on the principles of Scotland’s Disability Equality Plan, especially the commitment to embed lived experience from the outset, DPO partners (Inclusion Scotland, Glasgow Disability Alliance, Disability Equality Scotland) and wider Scottish Independent Living Coalition (SILC) members played a pivotal role in shaping the Forum’s purpose, structure, and content.
The approach represents a practical realisation of the Scottish Government’s commitment to work in partnership with disabled people, modelling engagement that is equitable, collaborative, and impactful.
