People thought Scotland s Adult Disability Payment was better than the old benefit.
Scotland s Adult Disability Payment is a benefit for people in Scotland who have a disability or long-term health condition.
Benefits is money from the government to help people with their living costs or when they need extra support.
They were worried about:
- changes to UK benefits
- not being sure if they would get financial help
- higher extra costs because of their disability
They talked about disabled people having less money because of things like:
- paying for social care
- paying for transport
- higher gas and electricity bills
- paying for equipment they need
They also have more difficulties with earning money because of:
- job applications not being accessible
- not getting reasonable adjustments at work
Reasonable adjustments mean changes or equipment at work that help a disabled person do their job.
