Data strategy update

RA provided an update on the data strategy for health and social care.

The group noted:

  • that the strategy has been reviewed by members of the Strategic Portfolio Board. RA and GW will ensure this feedback is incorporated into the strategy which involves implementing a new structure to bring clarity to the draft
  • a joint editing session with CB, RG, RA and GW has been arranged for Tuesday 17th January to further finalise the layout, language used and remove duplication throughout the document
  • the Data Strategy will be issued to COSLA on 17th January and the Health and Social Care Management Board (HSCMB) on 25th January for sign off
  • the target date for the publication of the data strategy remains 21st February

The group discussed:

  • that the commitments would remain in the body of the document and that the deliverables would be placed as an annex to reduce the length of the strategy and aid readability
  • the inclusion of more visuals throughout the document to reduce written content and aid understanding
  • setting out the key challenges that exist across the health and social care sector in a visual which also demonstrates how the strategy will improve data flows

Next steps:

To further refine the strategy at the editing session prior to sending to HSCMB and COSLA for approval sign off.

  • the Data Strategy for Health and Social Care will be launched at the Digital Health and Care conference on 21 February 2023

  • developing a proposal for the data board regarding the future remit of the working group
  • the working group assisting with promoting the strategy and raising awareness with stakeholders, social work, social care, third sector and private organisations
