Deer (Scotland) Act 1996: revocation of section 8 control scheme - Loch Choire Estate

A notice outlining the revocation of a section 8 control scheme for deer management.

In accordance with paragraph 5 of schedule 2 of the Deer (Scotland) Act 1996 ('the 1996 Act'), NatureScot made an application to the Scottish Ministers to revoke the deer control scheme on Loch Choire Estate.

Notice of the intended revocation was published on the Scottish Government website on 24 July 2026. No objections to the proposed revocation were received during the twenty-eight day objection period.

Scottish Ministers have revoked the control scheme which was made under section 8 of the 1996 Act. This is in recognition of the voluntary agreement which has been reached between NatureScot and the landowner on Loch Choire Estate, compliance with that voluntary arrangement and the progress on deer management which has been made to date. The landowner was notified of the revocation on 7 September 2026.
