Coronavirus (COVID-19): guidance on reducing the risks in schools
Current mitigations

Current mitigations

Schools need take no action to remove or update the mitigations they currently have in place, unless otherwise advised in the following section (or by local Health Protection Teams in response to specific outbreaks or following local risk assessments).

Mitigations in detail (Annex A of the PDF) provides the detailed guidance on the mitigations that should be retained.

It is anticipated that these arrangements will remain in place until at least the October holidays. Further guidance will be provided in due course for the period beyond October, including the possibility of moving to a set of baseline mitigations in line with wider society, subject to data and evidence supporting this move.

Mitigations will be kept under regular review, and if data and evidence suggest that any specific mitigations can be removed at an earlier stage advice will be provided to that effect. Particular attention will continue to be paid to whether there is an ongoing requirement for face coverings in secondary school classrooms.
