Coronavirus testing and PPE for unpaid carers
Testing
Asymptomatic testing for unpaid carers has been paused from 28 September 2022 in line with clinical advice that it is safe to do so, given the reduced threat level and high uptake of vaccination. Changes to testing will be kept under clinical review.
You can still access testing if:
- you have a health condition which means you’re eligible for new coronavirus treatments
- you work in NHS health or social care settings in a face-to-face role with patients and service users, and you have symptoms.
How to access PPE
We have published PPE advice for unpaid carers who visit or live with a friend or family member to provide help with personal care such as washing or dressing. This details the situations in which unpaid carers may require PPE.
There is a separate guide for unpaid carers on how to access PPE.
