What we think could be changed

We could change the youngest age that someone can get married in Scotland.

It could be 18 years old, not 16 years old.

Some organisations have been asking for this law change for a while.

For example:

  • The United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child
  • the Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights – also called Together
  • the Children and Young People’s Commissioner for Scotland
