About this document

This is an Easy Read document.

It is a consultation.

A consultation is a set of questions that the Scottish Government ask everyone to see what they think about some new plans.

We want to know what you think about us maybe changing some laws about the age that young people can get married in Scotland.

In this document when we say ‘married’ or ‘marriage’, we mean both:

  • marriages and civil partnerships that happen in religious places
  • and marriages and civil partnerships that happen in other places

A civil partnership means a relationship that by law gives 2 people many of the same rights and responsibilities as if they were married.

Please read the information in this document.

Then answer the 2 questions near the end.
