Razor clams - commercial fishery using electric current gear: consultation analysis - island communities impact assessment
Island communities impact assessment (ICIA) for the consultation on a commercial fishery for razor clams using electric current gear in Scottish waters.
6. Adjustments
6.1 Possible Alternative Delivery Mechanisms/mitigations for Different Island Communities
Any major changes on policies regarding establishing a limited commercial razor clam fishery would likely require further consultation.
6.2 Measuring outcomes
We will assess outcomes in dialogue with fishers, statutory nature conservation bodies, and other interested parties as appropriate. We will assess metrics such as landings, qualitative information about difficulty marketing catches, achieving shellfish harvesting water classification, producing stock assessments when we review the policy.
We intend to gather more data on non-target species interactions and may seek to focus this in Broad Bay given the importance of this area to sandeels.
