Children and Young People's Neurodevelopment Support Fund 2026-2027: supporting guidance

Guidance to local authorities on potential uses of the Children and Young People's Neurodevelopment Support Fund 2026 to 2027.

Alignment with wider supports and services

Developing supports and services should align with existing structures, with appropriate links through established children’s services planning and community planning mechanisms, maximising the opportunities for children and young people to be supported with their ND needs by providing clear routes into the range of ND supports available and to other services that may support their wider needs e.g. mental health supports and services.

Safeguarding measures must be embedded into service planning, design and delivery arrangements to ensure all providers understand safeguarding thresholds, appropriate escalation routes, and when to involve statutory safeguarding partners.

To maximise both the impact of the funding and support connections between services, this funding can be utilised flexibly alongside wider funding streams where this would add value to services, for example the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund. However, it is not intended that wider funding should be repurposed.
