Increase in wheat area, yield and production
In 2022 wheat yield was 9.3 tonnes per hectare. Wheat production was 1.0 million tonnes.
Wheat yield increased 10% compared to 2021, rising to the highest yield in the past two decades. Combined with a 2% increase in the grown area, this resulted in a 12% increase in production. Production is well above the ten-year average.
