Artificial Intelligence

In Wave 80, businesses were asked about their current use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The majority of businesses reported that artificial intelligence applications were not applicable, but the top three AI applications used by businesses were spam filters (21.9%), chatbots (3.0%) and facial recognition (3.0%).  These were also the three most frequently reported AI applications that businesses plan to use in future.

Businesses that either use artificial intelligence applications or intend to use them in future were asked what AI applications are/would be used for. 

Figure 5: In Wave 80, 58.3% of applicable businesses reported that they use/intend to use AI applications to imporve cybersecurity.  An estimated 34.7% of businesses use or intend to use AI applications to create efficiencies to reduce costs or increase productivity.
