Business Concerns

In Wave 68 the BICS asked businesses about their main concerns in November 2022.

Business concern question: Which of the following, if any, will be the main concern for your business in November 2022?

  • business rates
  • competition
  • energy prices

  • inflation of goods and services prices
  • interest rates (including mortgages)
  • supply chain disruption

  • not sure
  • no concerns for my business

In Wave 68, the response option "interest rates" was updated to include specific reference to mortgages.

 Figure 1: The main concerns for businesses for November 2022 were energy prices (32.7%) and inflation of goods and services prices (26.0%).

Inflation of goods and services prices, and energy prices have been the top reported concerns since this series began in March 2022 (Wave 51). The proportion of businesses reporting that energy prices is the main concern for their business has decreased from 38.7% (Wave 66) to 32.7% (Wave 68).
