Businesses were asked if they had experienced any global supply chain disruption in July 2022, and around a quarter (23.5%) of applicable businesses answered that they had experienced disruption. Around half (52.6%) of applicable businesses reported that they had not experienced global supply chain disruption, and the rest (24.0%) were unsure.
The most often reported cause businesses gave for global supply chain disruption was shortage of materials (26.1%) followed by the UK exiting the EU (17.1%) and increased costs (17.1%). The COVID-19 pandemic (7.3%) and the conflict in Ukraine (7.2%) were reported to have caused the disruption by a similar proportion of businesses. Finally 6.1% of businesses reported shortage of hauliers to have caused the disruption, and other transportation issues was reported by 4.9% of businesses.
