Business Insights and Conditions in Scotland (wave 162): 27 August 2026

Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland data up to survey period 3 August to 16 August 2026 (Wave 162). The BICS provides statistics on how current conditions are affecting businesses in Scotland, including impact on financial performance, workforce, trade and resilience.


Turnover

Businesses that were currently trading were asked how their turnover in July 2026 compared with the previous calendar month.

Figure 4: Around a quarter of businesses (23.6%) reported that their turnover had increased in July 2026 compared with the previous month, which was down on June 2026 (32.2%), and down on July 2025 (30.6%).
