Business Insights and Conditions in Scotland (wave 156): 28 May 2026

Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland data up to survey period 4 May to 17 May 2026 (Wave 156). The BICS provides statistics on how current conditions are affecting businesses in Scotland, including impact on financial performance, workforce, trade and resilience.


Turnover

Businesses that were currently trading were asked how their turnover in April 2026 compared with the previous calendar month.

Figure 4: Around a quarter (24.3%) of businesses reported that their turnover had increased in April 2026 compared with the previous month, which was down compared to March 2026 (40.0%), but in line with April 2025 (25.1%).
