Business Insights and Conditions in Scotland (wave 140): 25 September 2025

Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland data up to survey period 1 September to 14 September 2025 (Wave 140). The BICS provides statistics on how current conditions are affecting businesses in Scotland, including impact on financial performance, workforce, trade and resilience.


Turnover

Businesses that were currently trading were asked how their turnover in August 2025 compared with the previous calendar month.

Figure 4: Turnover increased for 24.1% of businesses between July and August 2025, with the Information & Communication sector having the highest share experiencing a rise (34.3%), followed by the Arts, Entertainment & Recreation sector (33.6%). Turnover decreased for 21.9% of businesses.
