Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland estimates containing data to wave 135


US Tariffs

In the period 16 June to 29 June 2025 business that had not permanently stopped trading were asked what impact, if any, United States tariff changes had on their business in the last month. US tariffs impacted an estimated 9.0% of businesses in the last month. Businesses were also asked about expected impacts next month.

Figure 4: 11.1% of businesses expect to be impacted by US tariffs in the next month, with the Manufacturing sector having the highest share expecting some impact (27.9%).
