I wish to make a freedom of information request to understand the average value of land per social/council house built in Scotland.

You clarified your request with: Average value of land per dwelling for social/council housing in Scotland for the last 25 years. Would it be possible to also have the percentage of nil transfers a year for social dwellings?
 

Response

You have requested information for the last 25 years. We are not able to provide information going back as far as 1997 as not all of that data is available and the amount of time it would take to check and cleanse the data that is available, to ensure it was accurate, would be prohibitive.

We have however enclosed the information you requested for the six financial years 2016-17 to 2021- 22 which we hope you find helpful. This information reflects the cost of purchasing the land which may not always be the same as the full market value as it could be the case that acquisition has taken place at a nil or minimal/reduced transfer value.

To note that ‘New Build Off The Shelf’ homes have been excluded as the land costs are not itemised separately.
