We asked you about conversion practices – this is what you told us Easy Read Version

An easy read version of the responses to the Scottish Government's consultation on ending conversion practices.

Definitions - explaining what something means

Many respondents wanted better definitions of:

  • sexual orientation
  • gender identity
  • conversion practices
  • services that give conversion practices

Respondents who do not agree with the proposals were worried that the wording of the law is confusing.

They said the law would not be clear until it has been tested in court.

Respondents who supported the proposals were also worried that what the new law would cover was not clear enough.

They were worried that some people who carry out conversion practices could find ways to get around the law.

The Scottish Government says that it is important for people to understand what the law means and how it will work.

They are going to think about definitions more.
