On 6 October 2026, an error was identified in Table 5.4.2: Employees [18+] earning the Real Living Wage or more by Industry Sector, Scotland, 2012-2025 of our Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings 2025 – Supporting Tables. This error affects the 2024 and 2025 estimates for the proportion of employees earning the real living wage or more by industry sector.

On 7 October 2026, the table was removed from the published tables and will be updated in the coming weeks. Further details of the issue will be included alongside the updated tables.

On 28 January 2026 we released data tables providing detailed analysis of ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings estimates for Scotland. 

On 29 January 2026 we added Table 2.3 to the data tables.

Key Points

  • gross median weekly earnings for full-time employees in Scotland increased by 4.6% in nominal terms from £739.70 in 2024 to £773.80 in 2025, continuing the longer-term upward trend
  • gender pay gap for full-time employees in Scotland has typically been narrowing over time since the series began in 1997
  • gender pay gap for full-time employees in Scotland widened from 2.0% in 2024 to 3.5% in 2025
  • proportion of employees in Scotland aged 18 and over earning less than the real living wage decreased slightly from 11.5% in 2024 to 11.3% in 2025
