Service evaluation criteria

The provider(s) shall submit quarterly monitoring reports detailing actual costs and an annual monitoring report for review and collation by the Scottish Government which shall include the following issues:

Immediately and quarterly

  • any unexpected problems and emergencies
  • the number of children and young people provided with advocacy support in the Children’s Hearings System, detailing demographic profile: age, gender, place of residence, ethnicity, and additional support needs. Including referrals made under exceptional or emergency circumstances
  • any unmet demand
  • recognised recruitment needs
  • any failure of services provided by others
  • comments on any service user complaints or compliments received

Annually

  • the number of children and young people provided with advocacy support in the Children’s Hearings System, detailing demographic profile: age, gender, place of residence, ethnicity, and additional support needs. Including referrals made under exceptional or emergency circumstances
  • comments on any service user complaints or compliments received
  • anonymised case studies to illustrate procedural and policy delivery issues
  • staff qualifications, training and CPD progress
  • any results of satisfaction surveys
  • any proposed changes to working practices that may lead to greater efficiencies, improved performance and enhanced value for public money

Feedback from children and young people using advocacy 

This may include questionnaires and data obtained through other forms of consultation by the provider(s) with children and young people. This data shall be used by the provider(s) to inform annual monitoring reports submitted us.

Self-assessment 

The provider(s) shall comply with the Quality Assurance Framework detailed in the National Practice Model for Advocacy within the Children’s Hearings System.  Provider(s) shall complete and submit an annual self-assessment using the self-assessment tool provided as part of the National Practice Model for Advocacy within the Children’s Hearings System.
