Cruise ship levy
We are looking at giving councils new powers to charge a cruise ship levy.
We held meetings with the cruise industry, councils and others to understand the issues. We used his feedback to develop our proposals.
We ran a public consultation in early 2025.
Port and cruise representatives have developed alternative proposals, which they have shared with us.
We are analysing the consultation responses alongside the industry proposals. We will publish both early in 2026.
