First Minister Jack McConnell and the vice president of the European Commission, Margot Wallstrom, faced an audience of young people at a special event at Stevenson College in Edinburgh tonight.
The questions ranged from Scotland's place in Europe, whether the EU was turning into a United States of Europe, and if the smoking ban in public places, which Scotland adopted earlier this year, could be extended throughout Europe.
