Rail strikes
Transport Minister convenes Scottish Government's resilience committee.
Following the announcement of two more days of rail strikes by the RMT, Transport Minister Humza Yousaf convened the Scottish Government’s resilience committee today.
Mr Yousaf said:
“I am very disappointed that the RMT will be calling further strike days over the next two Sundays, especially as talks are due to resume this Wednesday with a view towards finding a resolution to this issue.
“I would therefore call for these strikes, which are only damaging the reputation of Scotland’s railways, to be suspended pending the outcome of discussions.
“I have been assured that over 80% of services are scheduled to run on the upcoming strike days, which should help minimise passenger disruption. I was also pleased to note the success of ScotRail’s travel plan for the Open Golf last weekend, which delivered record numbers of people to the tournament by rail.
“Those planning to travel by rail this Sunday should check the ScotRail website before setting off to get the latest details of affected services.
“I would like to thank rail passengers for their ongoing patience and perseverance during this disruption.”
