NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde: Chief Operating Officer Safety and Assurance Oversight Group
Overview
This group first met in February 2026. It was set up to support work to improve safety and rebuild public confidence at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, following the Scottish Hospitals Inquiry.
It provides support and challenge to ensure the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Safety and Public Confidence Oversight Group's (SPCG) programme of work is delivered.
The group is chaired by the Chief Operating Officer of the NHS, with broad membership from across Directorate General of Health and Social Care. Between monthly meetings, the Chair meets regularly with the SPCG co-Chairs to discuss progress and updates Ministers accordingly.
