Free Personal Care Implementation Advisory Group
Overview
The group was set up in January 2018 to advise the Scottish Government, COSLA, local authorities and service providers in extending free personal care to people under the age of 65. The group concluded its work in March 2019. From 1 April 2019, free personal care was extended to people who have been assessed by their local authority as requiring this service, regardless of their age, condition and means.
The Implementation Advisory Group (IAG) for the extension of free personal care was set up in January 2018.
Its purpose is to provide advice to assist us, COSLA, local authorities and service providers in extending free personal care to all those aged under 65 who are assessed by their local authorities as needing this service, regardless of their age, condition, and means.
Advice from IAG members is intended to ensure that implementation takes into account the impact on local authority systems, providers and related policy areas, and is undertaken in a way that is sensitive to the needs of service users.
The IAG will meet monthly until summer 2018 and afterwards every two months.
