Introduction

These documents set out the approach and principles that have guided Scotland through the pandemic and which continue to do so. They are listed in reverse date order, with the most recent documents first.

The latest of four updates to Scotland’s Strategic Framework, published in February 2022, assesses where we are in the pandemic and sets out Scotland’s approach to managing COVID-19 and its associated harms effectively for the long term as we prepare for a calmer phase of the pandemic.

Scotland’s Strategic Framework, published in October 2020, set out our then strategic approach to suppress the virus to the lowest possible level and keep it there, while we strived to return to a more normal life for as many people as possible.

Scotland’s Route Map through and out of the crisis, published in May 2020, gave an indication of the order in which we carefully and gradually sought to change the then current restrictions.

The Framework for Decision Making, published in April 2020, set out the challenges Scotland faced and outlined the approach and principles that guided us as we made decisions about transitioning out of the then lockdown arrangements.

The latest guidance and updates can be found via the Coronavirus (COVID-19) page.
