What we do

The role of the Propriety and Ethics Directorate is to enhance the confidence of staff, ministers and the people of Scotland that the Scottish Government is an organisation committed to openness and transparency and achieving the highest levels of integrity and ethical behaviour.

We are responsible for:

• ensuring that staff across the organisation and its public bodies have a point of contact for raising issues of concern
• providing support and advice to the organisation where necessary on high profile issues concerning propriety and ethics
