Alan Gray

Alan has been the Director of Health and Social Care Finance since August 2024.

Prior to his current role, Alan was Director of Finance in NHS Grampian before joining the Scottish Government in 2022 to support a number of key programmes.  During his period in NHS Grampian, Alan fulfilled a number of responsibilities beyond finance, including being Deputy Chief Executive, executive lead for performance, infrastructure and mental health services and fulfilling key roles on a number of national programmes.

His finance career began in the private sector, where he was a Director in a global accounting firm responsible for provision of audit and advisory services to the public sector.

Alan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and sits on the ICAS Public Sector Panel.

He also chairs the NHS Directors of Finance Group.
