Research Interests

My research interests are concerned with the ecology and demographics of wild Atlantic salmon stocks at a national, and international, level. I am involved in the collection and analysis of datasets to underpin salmon conservation status assessments. I have a particular interest in life history variation of aquatic animals and the use of bio-accretionary structures such as fish scales and otoliths to make inferences about individual life histories.

Collaborations

I collaborate with scientists across the UK and Europe, notably those involved in ICES Working Group on North Atlantic Salmon.  I have close connections with the University of St Andrews where I collaborate on projects related to the marine ecology of Atlantic salmon and their interaction with predators.

External Committees and Responsibilities

I represent Scotland on the ICES Working Group on North Atlantic Salmon.
