The fifth annual UK Aquaculture Forum took place at Scotland House in Brussels on the 5th and 6th November 2014.
The forum, is represented by industry and government officials from the four devolved administrations of the UK, focussing on EU issues. This structure recognises the role of the UK Government in EU affairs while placing Scotland as the UK’s largest aquaculture producer in a leading role. Day 2 of the forum was chaired by Paul Wheelhouse, Minister for Environment and Climate Change.
Key speakers included representatives from DG MARE, DG SANCO Ian Duncan, MEP and Heather Jones, CEO, Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC).
On the evening of the 5th November a seafood and drinks reception was hosted by Minister Wheelhouse, showcasing Scottish seafood and drink. Mr Wheelhouse delivered a speech to an audience of over 80 people, including MEPs from various member states, NGOs and key representatives from the EU institutes. Lowri Evans, Director General, DG MARE was guest of honour.
