Crimes Involving a Firearm
In 2015-16, Scottish police forces recorded 322 offences in which a firearm was alleged to have been involved, a decrease of 7% from the 358 offences in 2014-15. The number of offences in which a firearm was discharged and subsequently caused fatal or non-fatal injury to a person decreased by 27% from 48 in 2014-15 to 35 in 2015-16.
Over the last 10 years, air weapons have consistently been the most commonly identified weapon used in recorded offences involving a firearm.
