"I am the Head Teacher and Named Person for the children in my primary school. It’s a small school with just 32 pupils.
"A primary seven pupil who left us last session was having difficulties at his new secondary. His Named Person there got in touch with me and she came to see me for a discussion. I was able to approach this with the “hat” of Named Person on, rather than as his Head Teacher. This enabled us to focus specifically on his wellbeing, and how we could best meet his needs.
"Even although he was no longer with us I was able to supply added information which wasn’t written on forms which in turn benefited him at his secondary. I had a good relationship with him: he knows I was his Named Person and says it’s a comfort to him knowing I can continue to offer some support from afar."
