Carer Information Strategies

From 2008/09 to 2016/17 the Scottish Government provided funding of nearly £39 million to NHS Boards for direct support to carers and young carers.  This resource was contributing to, amongst other things, funding of carers centres and other projects across Scotland, which provided a range of services including short breaks, information & advice and advocacy support.

From 1 April 2018, duties to deliver carer information strategies have been superseded by new responsibilites under the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 to support carers and to establish local carer information and advice services. Scottish Ministers have encouraged local areas to build on this existing provision in delivering these new responsibilities.
