Findings and Recommendations
Main Findings and Recommendations
- The Scottish Government recognises the importance of primary care as the first point of contact in health care for most people and that this should also be the case during the out of hours period when people can also need urgent care
- The Review acknowledged this and recommended a model for out of hours and urgent care in the community that is clinician-led delivered by a multi-disciplinary team; thus enabling patients to be seen by the most appropriate professional to meet their individual needs.
- The Scottish Government has sought feedback from key delivery partners, including Integrated Joint Boards, to set out how they propose to work collaboratively to implement the recommended new model of urgent care locally. This will inform the Scottish Government’s detailed response and implementation plan, scheduled for publication later in 2016.
