Mental Health (Scotland) Act 2015 - Parliamentary passage of the Bill

The Mental Health (Scotland) Bill was introduced to the Scottish Parliament on June 19, 2014. The Parliamentary Bureau designated the Health and Sport Committee as the lead Committee for this Bill:

Stage 1

The Health and Sport Committee took evidence on the Bill during Autumn 2014. 

The Committee held their final oral evidence session on December 2, taking evidence from Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health. The official report for the Committee meeting on December 2, 2014 is available on the Scottish Parliament website.

The Scottish Parliament published its Stage 1 Report on January 30, 2015. The Government provided its response to the report on March 27, 2015.

Stage 2

The first day of Stage 2 took place at the Health and Sport Committee's meeting on May 19, 2015. You can access a report of the meeting on the Scottish Parliament website, as well as the list of amendments proposed at Stage 2.
