The Pay and Rewards Team deals with all issues relating to pay, pensions and terms and conditions for NHS staff employed by Health Boards across Scotland.
We are responsible for providing evidence to the UK Pay Review Bodies and taking forward their recommendations. We deal with two UK Pay Review Bodies, the NHS Pay Review Body (PRB) and the Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration (DDRB).
The PRB deals with all staff employed on Agenda for Change terms and conditions. This includes: nurses; midwives; pharmacists, and administrative staff etc. The DDRB deals with the remuneration of all doctors and dentists.
The NHS Pay Review Body and the Doctors and Dentist Review Body report separately to the Health Ministers in each country who can accept, reject or modify their recommendations. Please see downloads on the right hand side for further information.
There are negotiating structures in place at both UK and Scottish levels for dealing with conditions of service (UK Staff Council, Scottish Terms and Conditions Committee and Joint Negotiating Committees (with British Medical Association and British Dental Association) etc.)
We are also responsible for:
- Sponsoring the Scottish Terms and Conditions Committee and providing a secretariat function. This committee has members from Scottish Government, NHS Scotland employers and Scottish Health Trade Unions and is the forum for negotiation and discussion of terms and conditions issues specific to NHSScotland.
- Policy on the pay and terms and conditions for NHS Executive and Senior Managers which is determined by Scottish Ministers
- Policy for the NHS Pension Scheme (Scotland) which is administered by the Scottish Public Pension Agency
- Policy on the current Distinction Award and Discretionary Points schemes for NHS Consultants in Scotland
