The draft Scottish Noise Management Guide

The Noise Management Guide is designed to help local authorities develop a common approach towards the enforcement of community noise statutory provisions. The guide is a dynamic document and will be reviewed periodically to ensure its currency.

The aims of the guide are to:

  • Encourage Local Authorities to develop noise policies and practices to meet their statutory obligations
  • Provide examples of 'good practices' in dealing with noise issues
  • Encourage Local Authorities to critically review their noise services and determine where improvements can be made

Part 5 of the Antisocial Behaviour (Scotland) Act is currently being evaluated and once concluded the guide will be updated to incorporate this legislation.
