Reservoirs: legislation

A list of all legislation relating to reservoirs in Scotland.


The Reservoirs (Scotland) Act 2011 sets out a new regulatory regime for the safe construction and operation of reservoirs in Scotland.

The Reservoirs (Scotland) Regulations 2016 make provision in relation to part 1 of the Reservoirs (Scotland) Act. Attached at the bottom of this page are word versions of:

  • Schedule 18 of the Reservoirs (Scotland) Regulations 2016, setting out the form of information about repairs to low Risk reservoirs to be included in record of relevant documents maintained under section 56 of the Reservoirs (Scotland) Act 2011
  • Schedule 17 of The Reservoirs (Scotland) Regulations 2016, setting out the form of record to be maintained under section 51(1) of the Reservoirs (Scotland) Act 2011
  • templates for the reports, statements and certificates introduced by schedules 6 to 15 of the Reservoirs (Scotland) Regulations 2016

The Reservoirs (Enforcement etc.) (Scotland) Order 2016 confers powers on SEPA to enable it to enforce the requirements of the Reservoirs (Scotland) Act 2011.

The Reservoirs (Panels of Reservoir Engineers: Sections under which members may be Appointed)(Scotland) Order 2015 came into force on 1 April 2015 and specifies the sections of the Act under which a member of a panel may be appointed.

The Reservoirs (Scotland) Act 2011: Restrictions on Disclosure of Information in relation to national security) Order 2015 is an Order made by the Secretary of State.
