Scottish procurement: open contracting strategy

Strategy to enable us to publish information about our procurement exercises, ensuring greater transparency on how we spend public money.

Engagement

A key component of open contracting is to increase the engagement of business and civil society in the contracting process. Increased transparency of contracting information will enable civil society to monitor and provide feedback on public contracts. Civil society can play a significant role in encouraging accountability in government procurement, and can contribute an independent and impartial voice to the procurement process. For example enabling service users, to review the evaluation criteria and contract awards validates the procurement and heightens public awareness and trust in the process.
