The Evaluation of Children's Hearings in Scotland: Volume 3 - Children in Focus

The team at Edinburgh wishes to thank the Scottish Executive for their support in commissioning research into children referred to the Children's Hearings system. Special mentions are given to Nancy Loucks for her unstinting efforts to analyse the official government annual statistics on the Hearings system (SWS21 returns); and to Linda Morris for her unfailing support in administering certain aspects of the study and producing this report. Robert Stewart gave excellent help in analysing the interviews with parents and young people referred to the Reporter.

Thanks go to Helen Kay for gathering data on jointly reported young people. The team would also like to thank Frances Provan for her specialist statistical work on the Scottish Criminal Records Office (SCRO) database data, Jane Hopton for her expert advice at key moments, and Jean Raeburn, who gave willingly of her professional advice and time. Thanks also to Linda McLeod, Jill Flye, Geoff Braterman, Ann McGuckin and Elizabeth Cutting for their assistance, especially in the preparation and coding of data.

Christine Hallett, Cathy Murray and William Veitch were appreciated for their advice and good collegiate relations.

Finally, and most importantly, a special thanks is due to all the Reporters and administration staff in Reporters' offices who tirelessly completed the returns, and to the families and young people who gave of their time and experience in pursuit of a better future for children in Scotland.
